When it comes to cancellation, it seems to me all these discount tickets should fall under the same rules as free cancellation of a booking; If an airline offers free cancelation to you for 24 hours, then the airline has 24 hours to cancel. If they don't, they have to honor. They could always change their free cancellation for all tickets to 72 hours to give themselves 72 hours.

Not going to happen, but would be fair... or fare.
