Perhaps put in a different way... it's their first encounter with "travel hackers" travel hacking their way to elite status.
It's probably not helpful to statusmatch.com's business model, but part of their pitch to prospective new airline customers should be to have a slide titled "and this is how travel hackers will behave when you offer accessible elite status".
