Just came back from a 6 nights stay in Sofitel Imperial Mauritius
Check-in was pretty bad :
- Took us 40 min to get the room key
- We got asked 3 times our passport as things were not done properly
- Got forced to pay upfront the entire stay which I refused
- My Visa card got rejected (because it wasn't a credit card) & my Amex as well so got forced to pay upfront 150€ as otherwise, they would not give us the key (with a very rude tone)
- No Upgrade as we got told the hotel was full (surprisingly, a lot of rooms available in the app which I told them

I, for the first time, contacted the travel assistant to let them know about how bad it went
Got called back the following morning by one of the hotel manager, got moved immediately to a Junior suite and service suddenly became very good
Pretty (happily) surprised how it went from quite bad to very good
Had a similar stay as Diamond. Albeit was never called back for the upgrade and was stuck at the entry level room. I never saw a manager at the reception desk, very young staff who quite frankly were not that customer friendly. Diamond status did not mean a thing there, happy you got a bit better treatment as Limitless. May I ask if the travel assistant is a Limitless perk or were you referring to your own PA or travel agent?
Oh, were you forced to pay for the coffee pods in your room...?
