It will definitely fit, but the dimensions (pre- squeezing/folding) are slightly larger than the published size for a "personal item" (e.g. lap top bag). My concern is that if they deem it not be an acceptable size, then it's potentially a €35/£35 charge at the gate for taking it on-board.
Personally speaking, I have never known EI or Emerald to screw pax over with a backpack type of carry on. I fly a lot with EI. However, I can't comment on GLA operations as I have never flow from GLA. Hopefully others will chime in with their experiences.
