What is FOOD on an airplane these days??

Snack
vs
Meal
======================= ===================
Oh . those of you who fly Ecomony can stop reading now .. you get neither EVER EVER AGAIN as they took out the ovens in coach on most aircraft (MD80/737s I think). You have to buy-on-board your food stuffs (ok ok there is the $3 snack and the $5 meal but i have no bloody idea)
====================== =========================

First SNACK (may also include continental breakfasts)
Cold something
Many choices lately... chicken pita with pasta salad, turkey wrap with salad, cold salmon with cold veggies... thats all I can recall. ALL Snacks end with the wonderful cookie package (something like chocolate fingers). Also tends to be packaged nuts and pretzels.

First MEAL
Hot something (maybe)
Yup the Pizza, maybe hot salmon, maybe hot meat (aka steak ) or maybe some chicken fingers and breakfast will be that beany omlet thing (if they offer Eggs OR Omlet take the Eggs as they are good!). All Meals seem to end with cookies .. have not figured out when the good/better oatmeal cookies come vs the chocolate fingers... toss up! Tends to have the heat-capable nuts service and the wash-up towels. Nuts depend on the FA'a ability with the oven I think!

There seems to be no difference between lunchtime and dinner snacks/meals. Was on a trip that had snack on both flights and was the SAME service both times... woohoo had the other choice!

Also remember EFOB (Even Front Odd Back) to start the snack/meal ordering process. Helps when you REALLy want that choice!

BEWARE BEWARE of the dreaded double-catered flights!
1. Sometimes catering FORGETS to load the second meal! HA White Plains to Chicago is listed as a dinner flight (heard catering tell FA the 'return meals are in the BACK galley' once). Well twice on my 6pm return .. was informed catering forgot to load them (seems catering does not think that anything beyond soda's will live in a coach galley now days). (YUP nasty letters there!)

2. Flights that overnight at an out location. (out as in non-big airport or hub). Bermuda to JFK morning flight is listed as breakfast. Well yes . but it was boarded the NIGHT before in JFK. SO it is totally non-perishable items. Can you imagine what catering can be thinking of? Cereal...no fruit.. NO cold milk - the paper box of Parmelot milk is cabin-warm. Bagel yes.. butter .. NO. Creme Cheese maybe since it does not melt .. but PLENTY of jelly! NO cream for coffee either! well, they DO get ice in the morning! On a White PLains to Chicago first flight out inthe morning.. the FA had to have the 'experience' to make instant oatmeal from the coffee machine's hot water.

Has AA catering never heard of COOLERS with ICE in them that they can seal up and wait for the morning flights?
