In general, I normally stay away from boutique hotels. The currently ongoing promo pushed me though to stay in one (the Augarten Art Hotel in Graz, Austria), pretty unimpressive in terms of build, almost non-existent facilities, the only positive thing was the high-quality breakfast, however not sufficient to make me a fan.
Boutique hotels can be great WHEN they work, but I find that they are worse about fixing issues when issues come up - likely due to the more limited staffing levels and smaller number of available rooms. I have better luck with larger hotels.
