Since the change to BAC I've left BA and moved to AY. I'm flying a bit more than normal this first year and will comfortably make Platinum from 3 long haul J trips (AY, 2xAA) and a TP run in J (IB). I've been using avios for almost all short haul. I had some free time and thought I'd look through what I could have got if I'd credited all this flying to BA under the new rules.

I was surprised to find that I'd be within striking distance of Gold - would need the full 2000TP from SAF, plus the presumed 2500TP from Amex. I left BA because under the new scheme I'd struggle to maintain Silver and would get nowhere near Gold.

As it is, AY seems to work for me - I'm fairly hopeful that I'll be able to maintain Platinum fairly easily at the cost of converting some Avios, whereas I'd only get Gold in an exceptional year at the cost of paying £££ for SAF with BA. No plans to return.
