Being a CK came in very handy at LAX and likely resulted in me making my flight. I had a flight departing out of the Eagles’ Nest yesterday. I knew the bus situation wasn’t going to be the best so I arrived 90 minutes before departure. At check-in, I asked if there were cars available and was told they were all booked. Fair enough since the benefit isn’t guaranteed.
The bus situation was a disaster to the point where the line for the bus was forming in the tunnel before the escalators. People also became stuck on the escalator while it was still running and there was little direction from staff on what was going on. At this point I’m thinking: 1) it would have been nice to have a ‘check-in’ text so I could talk to someone at LAX, and 2) I’ll probably miss my flight.
Fortunately, a rep called me around the same time to see where I was as someone mentioned to him that the bus situation was bad and he wanted to make sure that I wasn’t jammed up! The car saved the day. It was very thoughtful of him and avoided a 60-90 minute wait based on what people were saying at the AC. As an aside, there were also a bunch of idle busses with drivers at the Nest so I don’t know if there was a breakdown in communication by the dispatchers.
