So I think this is actually quite an interesting development, regardless of who marketed it, as it makes connections through MAD to Spanish cities somewhat more attractive than in the past, as they now earn the same bonus as any other short-haul rather than being cut in half.
Before, LHR-MAD-VLC return would have earned 40+20+20+40, now it earns 175+175+175+175.
You could even chuck in a UK leg, so MAN-LHR-MAD-VLC to get 6 legs at 175 each. If on a BA flex ticket, even more.
Ran a search for random dates in May and can find a shade over 600 quid return in CE, which would thus yield approx 600 TPs plus (6*175), so 1650 TPs for 600 spend
