My gut-feeling says you might have a different challenge here (unless you have a lot of experience that SQ's online check-in always reliably worked for you in the past for flights to the US):
You assume that online check-in will work for your flight to JFK. SQ was sometimes a bit picky about this in the past. I didn't check it, but if I recall correctly, SQ's check-in cut-off in FRA is 40 minutes prior to departure. Meaning it would leave you less than an hour for getting through security and retrieving your boarding pass.
If your SQ flight is full-flex, I'd risk it. Other than that, I would not.
