It is so dangerous to use any form of shorthand around here when you touch on raw nerves.

So let me re-write that last paragraph:-
You can think what you like about the cabin baggage weight restrictions, but the people on here whose professional business is to know about these restrictions and why they're there (including the number of accidents caused by heavy items either breaking free from or falling out of overhead bins) will tell you (either here or in the numerous other threads on the BA forum and other FT forums in which they've touched on the subject) you're wrong. You're free to ignore them if it's not convenient for your world view.
And then we can all choose whether or not to fly with the "I think it's much more important that I am not personally inconvenienced in any way" brigade.
