Happy as I would be for them to do that, sitting on under 2K worth of new tier points I am nowhere near to requalifying. Tbf I am not sure I would be worthy of having my status extended as I've made no attempt whatsoever to chase requalification.
However, totting up all my Avios redemptions I've flown since BAC came into being, if they'd been cash bookings under the old system I'd have requalified or be as close to requalifying that I'd almost certainly book another trip or milage run for me to get over the threshold. BA Holidays would also have benefitted from my custom as I would have carried on booking their more expensive car hires, instead they've had nothing.
In the unlikely event my loyalty is rewarded with a status extension I might be tempted to get back on the hamster wheel again but as it's as clear as mud on how I can actually get to Gold without spending a ridiculous amount of money, I am not sure I can be bothered. Finnair's scheme looks a lot more tempting right now...
