Agreed. This announcement is silly - half of us (who would have retained Gold under the previous scheme) will drop from Gold to Silver in 1.5 months then, with the same flying patterns, likely requalify for Gold in the next earning year...unless the flyer hasn't already left BA/AA/etc completely.

The real kicker is those that could just miss out on GGL renewal who would have made it under the new rates but then, with the same flying patterns, won't be able to qualify for GGL next year but will get over the renewal bar.
