This still seems like BA want to give status to those who buy tickets which already come with almost all the benefits status would have given them anyway.

I doubt many fly a few long-haul flights in F and then fly HBO short-haul instead of CE because they now have status access to lounges.

If status gives little, and people who throw money at BA probably can't be bothered to count TPs anyway, I don't see TPs / status encouraging extra spend.
