I don't have any Middle East flights or anything that involved a schedule change the tickets were actually just issued. It's only the American Airlines flights where I can't assign seats. The around the world desk has looked over the tickets multiple times to make sure that there are not any problems with them.
I definitely have experienced this with schedule changes before though. What's interesting and makes this different is that apparently reservations has been unable to assign seats in AACoRN on this reservation but they are able to in QikRes. AACoRN gives the error message "passenger not eligible for seats".
Interesting... My recent schedule change was for flights that had nothing to do with the ME either, so it still can happen, but it doesn't sound like it's the issue in your case. The fact that two of AA's systems are giving different results is genuinely strange.
