I concur with all of the other posters. It is really simple to get between downtown and the airport and with the babe in the car you qualify to use the carpool lane if the traffic is snarled up.

The only additional advice I have, since you are travelling with your toddler, it might be much more convenient to use a car rental agency that is in the terminal rather than off site. Heck! When I am travelling alone it is a lot more convenient! You can pull up rental cars in Travelocity and along with the price it shows if the rental agency is in terminal or not.
