Locked out of self-service seat selection on multiple AA-issued oneworld RTW tickets

I’m wondering whether anyone else has run into this with AA-issued oneworld RTW tickets.

On multiple LONE3 economy RTW tickets, I’ve been completely locked out of normal self-service seat selection. When I go into the seat map, it shows every seat as occupied, even though that clearly isn’t true. So it’s not just that preferred seats are blocked — the system is effectively showing the entire cabin as unavailable.

There seems to be a second issue as well. I’m Executive Platinum, but the AA RTW desk is apparently seeing something in their systems that says I’m ineligible for exit row seats, as well as other premium seats like bulkheads. In at least some cases, they’ve had to call other support desks to get seat assignments resolved manually.

So there appear to be two separate but possibly related problems:
  1. The self-service seat selection tool is falsely showing all seats as occupied
  2. AA’s internal systems may be misreading RTW tickets and/or elite benefits, including exit row eligibility
Has anyone else experienced this on AA-issued RTW tickets?
Is this a known quirk of these fares/tickets, or does it sound more like something broken in how the reservation is being interpreted?
And if others have dealt with it, is there a better desk/channel to use than the RTW desk repeatedly having to escalate?

Any datapoints or advice would be appreciated.
