Is there usually a delay between cancelling a refundable flight and being able to request a refund? I cancelled a refundable flight (screen shot the page saying it was done) and went to the refunds page, only to get a message that I have to cancel the flight first. Flight also still shows in “Your flights”. Any idea how long this takes to process the cancellation before the refund request will go through?
I did receive the Trip Cancellation confirmation email almost immediately after cancelling.
Folllowup to my initial post: I still can’t apply for a refund. The popup still says I have to cancel first. Trip is still listed in my trips BUT when I open the trip, only the second of two segments is shown (OGG-HNL of ORD-OGG-HNL) where that segment is “Operated by Alaska as Hawaiian Airlines” (first segment on AA).
So maybe AA has to process that segment cancellation through Alaska before the entire cancellation is complete? And then I can apply for the refund? Thoughts?
