It was only when I reached the 2) Travel Credits section—right under 1) Payment Method—that I noticed the unchecked Travel Credits box (I had already unchecked it earlier) and another option to search for the FFC again using the same confirmation number and last name. So I basically had to redo the same step from where I started.
I was doing all of this on their website, and this particular FFC also seems more restrictive since I can’t use it on codeshare airlines like Lufthansa or SWISS, which really limits my options. Thanks!
I think there's a bug right now that won't let you apply FFCs to flights operated by other airlines on the website. It does still appear to be possible to apply them to such flights in the app.
