Yes, I remember this, it was the airline's response to the rise of OTAs like Travelocity (remember them?). I booked quite a few trips through Opodo 15 years+ or so ago, with their airline connection giving them some legitimacy, but they went off my radar, sounds like for the better.
Remember when BA had brick & mortar branches? There was one in Harrods and another in Canary Wharf that I used many years ago, back when tickets were still paper.
