Delta’s 763 product is not great but fine (and I just spent 10 hours on it last night from HNL so this is fresh for me). The 764 product, in my opinion, is excellent though.
Worst product on the route, if you include Newark, is still United’s dorm-style 777s which are 2-4-2, eight business class seats per row, and United’s 757-200 (although not a big deal since you’re flying with your wife).
Not sure if you intended to write "dorm-style" or meant "domestic-style", but either way, that is definitely an experience best avoided.
For all its faults, at least with DL you know the worst thing you'll end up with is the 763.
