Can I use the lounge at AMS the day before the flight back to the US? AMS is a connection (not a stopover) for me, so based on the quote above I should have access starting with my arrival at AMS through my departure the next day. However, I wouldn't be shocked if the lounge staff would see the overnight and deny access on the day of arrival.

(I have lounge access as I am DL Gold.)
You should have access. But the lounge closes overnight, so you'll have to leave at a point anyway.
