Long story short, I think Delta thinks they have the best experience on the route, and when it's a Boeing 767-400 or Airbus A330-900neo it truly is the best by lightyears. I think these prices are here to stay, and I think people are paying them.
But most are not those aircraft. Most are 20+ year old 767s with a coffin product with new upholstery that Delta calls "refurbished". The UA 787 in Polaris is superior to every single product on this route EXCEPT the odd A330-900 that is sometimes thrown in there. Ive been flying this route for 20 years and unless its an A330 Im going to EWR to avoid that crap for the amount DL charges.
