BA has 39 to 43 777-200s to withdraw (depending on what they decide to do with the four 2009 aircraft) and 68 aircraft on order.
Some of these are to add resilience but since Heathrow is full they would have to scale back European operations to release slots.
If BA retained the four younger 777-200s that’s a net increase of 29 aircraft. If so then 6/29 aircraft at Gatwick is a relatively modest proportion.
Regarding the LHR slots, IINM they have quite a few leased out (Loganair comes to mind) or utilised by Vueling, for example.
