Since they will all be confirmed at check in , the through cost should be charged, however it makes no difference
Under the current scheme LHR-SYD is 90,000 points if all sectors are confirmed at the same time, however it comes to 115,000 if the 2 parts are done individually 70k plus 45k
Under the new scheme
LHR-SYD is zone 10 = 96,000 points
LHR-SIN is zone 7 = 56,000 points
SIN-SYD is zone 5 = 40,000 points
Total = 96,000 points
Shorter trips from UK ( e.g. PER ) drop. LHR-PER will drop to 80,000 from 84,000 or 90,000. ( This is a flight not to book as a through upgrade atm )
It's rare that I manage to get an upgrade on the internationals without waitlisting ; I don't see the new system as a negative for me.
