We cast all our remaining spells to enable a couple of long haul trips with friends in F later this year and early next, and the remainder to and from BCN when cash fares are eye-wateringly expensive over the summer.

Chasing any sort of status, even silver, when the majority of our paid-for points-earning flights are to BCN and back doesn't really make sense any more (£500 return for row 1 with BA, £65 for row 1 with Easyjet...) so we shall be gifting each other gold on March 31, enjoying another year of First wing security and then seeing where we end up in 2027
