First look inside the swanky, new Plaza Premium First Lounge at DFW - The Points Guy
Are these lounges open? Another blogger said they open March 9.
[Edited to answer my own question.] Both lounges opened about two weeks ago. The "regular" lounge is very nice. An oasis of calm. I'm sure that won't last. One of the managers said that they often go on a waitlist between 1:00 and 5:00 pm. She gave me a tour of the First Lounge. Very nice with very few guests. It offers a la carte dining and better booze. I may not have understood correctly, but I think she said it is only for the
First Class passengers on their contracted airlines (EK, TK, AF, AY and BR). Bloggers have posted that Business Class passenger also have access, but the small number of guests belies that opinion. Access is available for commoners for a $45 upcharge.
The remodel of the original Centurion Lounge space is quite luxe. I can see hints of the old layout, but the new design is much more functional and upscale. The food offerings were all good. My only beef (pun intended) was there were no animal protein dishes among the four hot offerings. I will send a suggestion to the director. The salads and desserts were good, and the cookies were warm! The iced tea dispenser is actually a carbonated beverage fountain with a limited number of Coke products.
Both a Priority Pass card and an Amex Platinum will get you in. I asked and was told they don't have preference.
Plaza Premium Group is quality worldwide lounge operator and their quality focus is evident in these lounges. PPG used to run DFW's Capital One Lounge and their departure coincided with the decline of that lounge.
I smiled to myself as I left. I walked by the Centurion Lounge and there were at least 20 people huddled around the entrance waiting to allowed in. Definitely a Fall of Saigon vibe.
The lounges are across from D15 and accessed via escalator up one level. Look for the Coca-Cola Experience.
