2. AA reissuing the ticket doesn't help.

3. The solution appears to be for QF agent to check you in via your final ticket number - have that with you.

4. This applies when there only QF flights in the ticket which was issued by AA - in the case of reward tickets which use the QF flight number.

5. If you have a ticket with AA which connects to a QF flight number - then AA will check you in all the way. So this is likely OK - as AA owns the ticket at time of check in.

6. Not sure if you have a paid AA ticket which has QF code share - like on a US to Australia ticket - maybe not.

7. Issue seems to be on single tickets of AA rewards for QF domestic flights with AA issuing the ticket but only with QF flight number. AA is a third party in this case. As several have pointed out - different in the reservation system they use.

8. But if you can't check in from the QF app - then go to the airport early.
In my experience, AA has to fix this issue, not the operating carrier. They have multiple ticket numbers (new and old), but they cannot check you in until AA reissues the ticket with the latest ticket number. Only then can/will the operating carrier be able to check you in.

Been on multiple 3 way calls at check in across several OW airlines over the years. Avoided some as I was able to talk to someone at AA who understood what I was asking and reissued the ticket. In the cases where they didn't or didn't do it, I ended up dealing with a mess at the airport (that AA still had to fix).
