Hi everyone, I'm still quite new to Flyertalk, and completely new to AF/KLM forum, so pardon me if the exact same question exists somewhere. I couldn't find it from my search
I saw the Bank of America credit card bonus, and thought I might bite the offer. If I do, I'm thinking of hitting Gold or even Platinum, but wanted to make sure if the status make sense for my flight pattern. I'm based in US, and take 4-5 domestic roundtrip flights a year for work or personal reasons. In addition, I take 2-3 international flights to Europe/Asia for vacation, usually one or two times to Europe and once to Asia. I haven't been loyal to any airlines or alliances, but if I dedicate myself to FB, I think it makes the most sense to take these flights mostly using Delta and Korean Air, when I can't fly AF.
I did some research in this forum and FB/Skyteam website. I think the reasons I would push to get a status would be, in the order of importance,
1. upgrades / better seat selection in advance
2. benefits to companions in the same PNR
3. better care in situations of cancellation/delays
4. lounge access
So far, what I found out is that, if I fly Delta
1. upgrades are rare, if not impossible. Comfort Plus seats (only for domestic flights?) can be selected T-72h (Gold) / time of booking (Platinum). This looks like a recent enhancement.
2. Absolutely nothing

, not even extra baggage, except lounge access for only 1 companion.
3. ?
4. can access Delta lounges, but only when flying internationally
And I found no better information about Korean Air, so I assume it's same as Delta except even the point #1 will be excluded.
I don't really find the extra checked bags or priority check-in so attractive - both airlines (and especially the Asia-based airlines) are generous with bags when flying internationally, and extra checked bags can easily come by with Delta if I have their credit cards. Priority check-in also doesn't seem so useful to me.
It would be helpful if someone can check whether this analysis is correct or not, or if I'm missing something I can benefit from FB Gold/Platinum status. I'm aware that, as a rule of thumb, it's better to have a status with the airline that I fly the most, which is why I never thought about getting one with AF before. The fact that I can easily reach Silver from this campaign sounds attractive, but I'm not just sure yet if it's worth for me to go beyond this through more spending and flying. (To reach Platinum, I would probably have to take some unnecessary flights, which is fine if the benefit is worth it)
Thanks in advance!
