Oh I will absolutely be trying at least twice more, but yes I did call after the most recent update - the flight was only cancelled in the last 12h.

I managed to book SYD-LAX-RDU-LHR with AA departing on the 7th so I at least have a way of getting home, albeit stuck down the back and ruining my mobility for two days after I land. Nonref after departure so safe if QR decide to see sense.
