400k is basically equivalent of 42k€ (40k€ + taxes) spend in less than 12 months. This point is likely reached near the end of the year, and the higher up in points, the shorter time left of the year. If there is one month left of the period, and you want to push a 400k person to book and fly for another 5+ k€ in that last month just to reach 450k? Mind you, if a person is at 400k already after 10 months, then they have spent 4+ k€ every month so far and it is likely they will spend 4+ k€ the coming months too. Then no need to incentivize at all, money is coming in anyway.
(Of course campaigns and mileage-idiots skew the scales quite a bit, but the airline can't design the program based on exceptions.)
IMO the milestones have little value to the airline high up in the hierarchy.
weeeeeellll
They are there to keep you flying ay... otherwise after reaching LUMO you could easily reach star gold or ST e+ also ( okay some of us do all 3 🤡🤣
For me its pure math, but for OPM flyers its most likely not
I rarely go overboard with EQPs but this year is different, with 45 days and Lumo+ some but my math is purely counting on avios based travel for the next 2 years based on LUMO
Who knows, I just double checked my napkin math and it SHOULD be solid but again nothing is guaranteed in life....
I still have 3 trips booked but those are full flex so I have to decide if cancelling them is indeed more lucrative then the rewards offered. I am also counting towards LT status on AY now that I finished LTP with FB so theres that too... but 400k it will be for sure, maybe 450 if I fly them all.... had there been a 80 or 100k option at 500k then likely I would have pushed there... but a scarf or towel set wont win my business...
