IHG guy here asking for a friend who's Marriott Titanium, involving BRG but not just BRG. If mods feel this post should be moved elsewhere, please feel free.

On some days, the Four Points by Sheraton Penghu (MZGFP, https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotel...nghu/overview/) has rooms available on its own website (https://www.fourpoints-penghu.com/, which then directs to https://www.gobooking.com.tw/en/FourPoints/PengHu), but not through Marriott. On the hotel's own website, most rates are said to not be eligible for Bonvoy benefits and accrual, except a more expensive rate. My friend asked for a guarantee room reservation using his status for a stay about a month away, only to be told it would not be possible. It is over a major holiday but I don't think there are major events.

My questions are:
1) Is a Marriott hotel allowed to not put rooms on Marriott's website and even refuse a guarantee room reservation to a Titanium member, only to then still sell rooms on its own website and say it is not Bonvoy-eligible?
2) In this case, a BRG submission is not even possible, because the night in question is not even bookable on Marriott's website. Over nights before and after, though, the rates on the hotel's own website are much lower than the rate on Marriott's website. These are "promotional" rates but available to the general public (i. e., not restricted to a particular nationality). There's a key difference though - these rates are not Bonvoy-eligible but otherwise the same. Since rates on third-party websites are often Bonvoy-ineligible, this is not a reason to disqualify a BRG request, only if the night in question is bookable?

He has tentatively made a reservation on the hotel's own website (refundable), but I feel pretty disgusted by all this. I'm not familiar with Marriott and would appreciate anyone's input. I also see Marriott Bonvoy Lurker III here and wonder if Marriott has any official stand on this?

Thanks, everyone!
