Just checking if you have the Savannah railroad Museum and the Mighty 8th Air Force Museum on your list, since you stated you enjoy those types of things. As far as hotels, I would recommend getting out of Macon for hotels. Since you are visiting the Delta Museum, why not stay at the renaissance concourse right next to it the night before? It has great views of the airfield, the balconies facing the runway are great places to sit if you like aviation.
