I'm reading people saying that they try to charge you the cash rate. But I'm struggling to see how that could be? The most natural reading of NON-REFUNDABLE / 100 PRCNT DEPOSIT AT BOOKING is that the deposit charged at booking is non-refundable (including, I suppose, the points), not that they can make up some arbitrary dollar amount never mentioned during the booking process and try to charge me for it.
If you made a points redemption night, and then not showing up, thus, the points for this reservation will be refund to your account, and a fine amount equal to BAR will charge to your credit card. So, I think the same situation here, for a rewards booking you do not need to pay a deposit, but, if you need to cancel a non-refundable rewards booking, points will refund and a fine will charged to your card.

Since there still have several months, the best way to cancel this reservation is call CS or contact hotel directly to seek a chance to cancel this reservation and waive the fine.
