Not an apologist, just trying to keep things in perspective.
Frankly, we just need the travel boom to run its course (or a recession) to reset demand and prices.
I get your perspective. One key difference for me is status qualification. With airlines I feel real pressure to book cash fares because I need them to requalify, and award tickets often don’t help much. With hotels - and WoH in particular - I really appreciate that a points stay is usually treated like a paid stay: elite night credit and on-property benefits generally apply the same, so I can choose cash vs points purely on value.
