There's going to be an enormous difference in quality between the Fairmont Olympic (very, very nice) and airport hotels (fair to middling). The trip into the city is not a big deal, especially at the times you'll be on the road. You can get downtown in 20 mins or so. Even if there is traffic you'll be able to take advantage of the carpool lane. I'd definitely recommend going with the Olympic.
