My question more specifically is: if I value collection at 1.5c so redeeming a 200k reward has a collection value of $3k. If redeeming a flight AC sells for $4k, then it's a good deal. But if another airline offers a similar flight for $2k Then it's much less so.

So I'm asking are people comparing to the same AC flight or to allother options when evaluating the value?
My threshold remains 2 ts/pt, although I often do better than that. With PRs of course. Otherwise I would not value the points at more than one cent.

As to flying another airline if it's cheaper, my wife will no longer travel alone so usually it's a reward on AC. Also, I am at around 2.6 MM. Although I have four banked years, and at the latest I will retire in four and a half years, would be good to get to 3MM by then... And I might retire earlier.
