I see the logic on suite upgrades and the lack of SUAs with Marriott, but without SUAs, I find Marriott to be better than Hyatt with complimentary suite upgrades (with Ambassador status). Since Marriott has such a better footprint outside of the US than Hyatt, why not just do that?
I have Marriott LT Titanium and Hyatt Globalist, but I still prefer Hyatt even when outside of the US. In Europe, I find that Hyatt is better at recognising status and in Asia, I often find Marriott prices to be higher than Hyatt's at relatively similar standard properties.
