If you were matched but dit not fly in the 4 month period you need 1 flight - even if it was for them to be slow with matching - then you have been matched. And they unlikely will match you again.....that is why it is so important to plan you matching date well, in sync with upcoming flights taking into account processing time. In my case I also had weeks of back and forth before the match came through, but luckily my flights were a month+ out.
