According to the seat map, my UA28 SIN-SFO today (Fri Feb 27) just got aircraft-swapped to the new 787-9...at least according to the seat map: https://www.united.com/en/us/flights...-27/SIN/SFO/UA. I also got a notification that my prior seat assignment of 1F was moved to 2F, but then I was able to snag 9A. I am guessing this is an error but will report back.
