Yepp. Quite often out of service.
Exactly those, because they are the ones with the huge difference in elevation.
Especially on flights to or from the USA, there are always airport employees on site, but they do nothing to amend the situation.
Rarely are the escalators cordoned off with tape; most of the time, they are simply not switched on.
The result is always that people end up to take the stairs or just somehow make their way up or down the escalator.
Especially in the cold season, when you have a jacket with you in addition to two (or three) pieces of hand luggage, this is unnecessarily dangerous.
Considering the frequency that I experienced this, I cannot help but wonder if it is just mismanagement to address the situation or if this is somehow company policy.
But it's not just Terminal 2 that's affected. In Terminal 1, the escalators are often simply not switched on, either.
