I am a bit sadistic with going as far as possible with surprises, If I was in your shoes, I'd go even farther and board with the usual Y group as if nothing changed. 
I have purposely boarded at the last minute. That means you can sit down and not have riff raff
walk past you (if a narrow body with the exit in the front, not the #2 exit, if it exists)
