I typically have gone out of my way to stay at Hyatt properties as I've always thought their value for redemption and very few if any black out dates as best. I rarely stay in large metro areas for work, so a lot of times I have to drive a good bit out of my way to stay at Hyatt properties.
Recently, I've noticed getting rooms for any amount of points on weekends at the PH Chicago (one of the properties we've frequented) is virtually impossible. It's become like redeeming miles for flights...has to be so far in advance.
I'm a lifetime titanium with Marriott and with the use of their credit card, it seems to be a better value now and certainly with many more properties to choose from. I think this is the start of me going back to Marriott and putting Hyatt on the back burner.
