got the same offer and I guess like many, I had moved my spending on other cards waiting for April (I always try to trigger by 2-4-1 voucher post August), so this offer is to ensure people keep spending until April.
The free card only earn 1 Avios per £1, so this offer would generate max 2500 Avios for the basic card, whilst for the Premium card, it should generate 7500 Avios if my calculation is correct. This esclude spending on BA which would generate even more base Avios and thus more bonus value
