I knew about the weather but family hospitalization meant I simply had to do things that I knew were risky, so just prepared myself mentally for a rough time. It was also my first flight as a Gold after being 1K for many years and ditching my club membership.
I got lucky, connected in EWR on Sunday from CDG (a route that has always been cursed for me with delays and cancellations), Club was delightfully quiet and made it out on a domestic while the snow was really starting to fall. On the return I did MCO to LGA via ORD (!) booked with miles as a backup but it ended up being the route I managed. And being a humble GM was fine, I lined up early in the Group 1 line, I paid for my snackbox and I bagged a day of departure upgrade on MCO to ORD for 200. Probably my best few days of travel with UA in years. Karma will ensure I pay the debt in due course
