The second time they openly discussed it was towards the end of 2019 UA plans second daily EWR-PVG and SFO-CAN. The pandemic took care of these plans and more.
With UA about to get a ton of 789s and them being reluctant to fly EWR/ORD/IAD-China due to Russian airspace restrictions, maybe SFO-CAN could be a good opportunity for UA to make up for some of the lost capacity to the PRC. Would a hypothetical SFO-CAN impact performance on the HKG flights?
