Wow, some major issues here
Night 2/6 and we came back after dinner to a note under the door that the main (only) pool is closed tomorrow from 1300–1900 for a wedding party.
I realize it’s a business and they have private events, but I’m flabbergasted they didn’t tell us at check in. I’m sure it’s been booked for months. We would have happily planned something off resort if we had known.
Now it’s too late, the resort is pretty isolated to plan a quality excursion for the next day at 9 pm.
We love our villa and the pool and the resort, but the room pool has zero shade from 1300 to sunset and is essentially unusable unless you are fine with full sun.
We are retired and leisure travel 5 months a year (although rarely beach resorts or this level of luxury) and have never encountered anything this insane from a service standpoint at any hotel above a Hyatt place.
We are extremely easy going and never complain about essentially anything. . I sent a text and they offered the use of a higher villa and a bottle of wine for the afternoon, but we aren’t interested in floating in some random pool with no service, towel service , drinks, background music etc. ]We declined but told them we’d take the wine ha. Am I out of line to be irritated? I’m not fishing for advice on compensation, just wanting to ask the board if i am out of line here to be angry. We don’t typically stay at isolated resorts where closing an amenity has such an impact. The beach is basically useless. The beach bar wasn’t even staffed today.
on a side note, they banged on the door repeatedly waking us up at 8:00 this am (DND on) trying to return some lost child. I didn’t complain about that as I figure the kid was scared and gave the wrong room number, but I’m beginning to think this resort is a mess.
