Avanti first class is eye wateringly.expensive, and was the main driver for me using BA CE as it was the cheaper option when booked in advance!

Plus BA generally has a higher success rate in eventually getting you to your destination.

Saying that I'm on the train going forward, but not paying Avanti prices for first.
