The newly qualified either are not aware yet of the perks and have not been using them for long enough to decide whether or not they are worth aiming for, or they simply do not care for them given how much money they spend and cabins they presumably fly in.

Under BAEC, the value of status was measured by how much you were using it when the perks were not included into the ticket, as the pattern for many of us was - pay for premium cabins just enough to secure status and then fly in lower cabins. The perks reflected that as they were really nothing meaningful (for non-GGLs), but they were enough for those of us who would not otherwise have access to them in Y/PE.

Who knows what these newly qualified members will value? Perhaps, BA will improve the perks given that there are specific price tags on statutes. Or they can just be happy that people pay to get status and then are not really using it because they once again pay for premium cabins.
