For 90 days after the annual fee posts, you go to Chase, sign into your card account, go to rewards, then Pay Your Self Back. Select the card annual fee option, and recent reports it will be 10K miles for Explore. That may change in the future.

True but a discount is still a discount.
There are some other benefits that may or may not be of use: a few companion UC passes for domestic trips where *G willn't work, rideshare/rental car credits, primary rental car insurance, delay insurance .... large miles sign-up-bonus that could make the card free for 5+years.
So not a total nothing-burger.
